Samsung Behold II SGH-t939 – Truly A Pleasure to Behold

The Samsung Behold II SGH-t939, powered by Google’s Android software, is now available exclusively on T-Mobile USA. As a sequel to the Behold, the Behold II has evolved into a powerful multimedia powerhouse, bringing T-Mobile customers a brilliant touchscreen display, highly customizable home screen, 5-megapixel camera and full suite of Google applications.

Undoubtedly, the most outstanding feature of the Behold II is its 3.2-inch 320x480-pixel AMOLED capacitive touchscreen display with haptic feedback. It works with Samsung’s TouchWiz user interface, allowing users to customize three home panels with widgets and shortcuts for one-touch access to their favorite applications. With a built-in accelerometer, the screen automatically changes between portrait and landscape QWERTY keyboard. The phone is also embedded with a proximity sensor to prevent any accidental mispresses when you are taking a call.

The Behold II is packed with a lot of great multimedia features. There is a 3D cube menu for quick launch of various multimedia programs, such as the photo gallery, music player, Web browser and YouTube. You can even spin the cube around and shake the phone to move it. In addition, the phone comes with a media player and you can download songs from Amazon MP3 Store. You also get a decent 5-megapixel camera with auto-focus, flash, 8x zoom and video capturing capabilities. Using the Imaging Tool widget, photos taken can be easily shared on websites like Flickr and Kodak Gallery.

Although the Behold II is running Android 1.5 instead of 2.0, it is still integrated with plenty of Google services. Apart from Android Market, it supports Gmail and Exchange ActiveSync for your Outlook mail, calendar and contacts. You can also access other POP3 and IMAP email accounts. Additional messaging options include text and multimedia messaging with threaded view, as well as instant messaging clients for Google Talk, AIM, Windows Live and Yahoo Messenger.

As for Web browsing, the Behold II boasts a full HTML browser featuring multiple windows and bookmarking. The integrated Wi-Fi and 3G technology make Internet surfing fast and enjoyable. Moreover, users will get text-based directions from the pre-installed Google Maps and Google Latitude.

The new Behold, with a more rounded design, gives quite a different look compared with its predecessor. It measures 4.57" by 2.2" by 0.48" and weighs 4.20 ounces, which is compact and lightweight. Other functional features include a 3.5mm audio jack, micro-USB port, stereo Bluetooth, voice recognition, speakerphone, 200MB internal memory and a microSD card slot for up to 16GB memory expansion.

The Samsung Behold II has proven itself to achieve a great improvement over the original. If you are a tech-savvy or multimedia addict, you will certainly like the phone for its impressive touchscreen display, camera and multimedia goodies.
