The Freeform boasts a 2.2-inch TFT screen display with 262,000 colors to show sharp and vivid texts and images. For text entry and navigation, underneath the display there are a convenient navigation array and a four-row QWERTY keyboard with raised keys. Besides, it offers instant access to your favorite applications through customizable navigation keys.
Of course, you will also find a comprehensive suite of messaging options, which cover instant messaging, multimedia messaging and threaded text messaging. Its mobile email support allows you to have access to multiple accounts, like Hotmail, Gmail and Yahoo Mail, and synchronize your Outlook email with the phone.
Some multimedia goodies can be found onboard as well. The Freeform sports with a full-function music player for playing MP3, CMX, AAC, AAC+ and MIDI files, plus a 1.3-megapixel camera for taking detailed 1280 x 1024 pictures. Apart from the 55MB internal memory, you can also save a lot more songs and images to an additional microSD card of up to 16GB.
As mentioned above, the GPS-enabled phone can work with Alltel Navigation for turn-by-turn driving directions with automatic reroute and full-color maps. Other features include wireless Web browsing, stereo Bluetooth, voice commands, speakerphone, a 3.5mm audio jack, a self-portrait mirror and a 1,000-entry phone book. You can get more ringtones, wallpapers, games and applications from Alltel’s Web store to customize your phone.
The Samsung Freeform comes in teal and red wine color options. Measuring 4.42" by 2.4" by 0.5" and weighing 3.63 ounces, it perfectly fits in your pant pocket without weighing you down. This is a decent device with a good balance between style and messaging functionality. If you are more of a texter than a talker, this may be your choice.
