HP iPAQ Glisten – Direct Answer to Your Busy Life

HP has unveiled the HP iPAQ Glisten, a Windows Mobile 6.5 smartphone featuring a QWERTY keyboard and an AMOLED touchscreen. With a sophisticated look and a full feature set of the updated operating system, it allows business users to keep stay connected with the office.

All new features brought by Windows Mobile 6.5 are onboard: the enhanced Internet Explorer Mobile 6 with Flash support, the Microsoft MyPhone service for data backup, as well as the Windows Marketplace application store. As usual, you will also find the complete Office Mobile suite, which gives you access to Word, Excel, PowerPoint and PDF documents.

Like other Windows Mobile devices, the iPAQ Glisten keeps you connected to your e-mail, calendar and contacts using Microsoft Office Outlook Mobile. It also supports POP3 and IMAP email accounts, SMS, MMS and instant messaging. For social networking, the smartphone comes preloaded with a Facebook app, and more can be downloaded from Windows Marketplace.

Another important feature on the Glisten is the Voice Commander, a voice recognition program that not only handles voice commands and dialing, but also reads text messages, emails and upcoming appointment details. Besides, there is an integrated inbox for summarizing emails, text messages and call history under a single view.

The multimedia aspect may not be its strength, but the Glisten still comes with Windows Media Player Mobile for playing various music and video formats. The 3.1-megapixel camera offers fixed focus, 5x digital zoom and video recording capabilities. Photos taken can be edited on the device using HP’s Photosmart photo editing software.

Other useful applications include MSN Weather, MSN Money, AT&T Music, AT&T Video and AT&T Navigator. The phone supports AT&T’s 3G network, Wi-Fi connectivity, Bluetooth 2.0, GPS and 3.5mm stereo headset. It comes with 512MB internal memory storage but is expandable up to 32GB via the microSD card slot.

The Glisten boasts a 2.5-inch diagonal AMOLED display of 240 x 320 pixels. Text entry and navigation are easy using the keyboard and 5-way directional pad. Measuring 2.47" by 0.53" by 4.44" and weighing 4.66 ounces, you won’t feel too bulky or heavy with the phone in your pant pocket.
