Pantech Link (AT&T) – Your Ultimate Messaging Mate

As an update to the old Pantech Slate, the Pantech Link for AT&T is an ultra-slim QWERTY handset for a wallet-friendly price. It comes with a nice selection of messaging and AT&T services, making it a real bargain for customers who want a balance between functionality, style and price.

The Link combines a full QWERTY keyboard and a large 2.4-inch screen (262,000 colors, 320 x 240 pixels) with a slim design, making it an ideal messaging device. Other than text, multimedia and instant messaging (AIM, Windows Live and Yahoo Messenger), the phone also supports mobile email for Yahoo, AOL Mail, Hotmail, Gmail and other providers.

Using AT&T’s 3G network, the Link connects you with friends and family via social networking sites such as Facebook, Twitter and MySpace. The Social Net platform lets you view and update online profiles, and the Mobile Share service enables you to upload photos and videos. Additionally, AT&T also offers Online Locker for you to store up to 250MB of multimedia files on its servers.

The Link packs a set of multimedia goodies as well. You can take photos or record videos with the integrated 1.3-megapixel camera. The built-in music player, with supports for MP3, MIDI, WAV, WMA and more audio formats, is connected with AT&T’s Mobile Music for downloading music over the air from Napster and eMusic. The service also offers some extra apps like MusicID and Billboard Mobile. Besides, you can watch streaming video clips using Mobile Video. More apps can be downloaded from AT&T’s AppCenter.

A bevy of other useful features include web browsing, stereo Bluetooth, voice commands, one-touch speakerphone, 80MB of internal memory and an up-to-32GB microSD card slot. The phone has a 1,000-contact address book that can be backed up online. You get GPS with support for AT&T Navigator. At a depth of only 0.39 inches and a weight of merely 3.2 ounces, it is one of the slimmest and lightest texting phones on the market. It measures 4.5 inches high by 2.4 inches wide.

The Pantech Link is light in both weight and the wallet, yet it covers most of the mid-range features a large-volume texter will expect. If you are looking for a solid phone dedicated to messaging rather than a high-end and fancy smartphone, the Link is the one for you.
