LG Rumor Touch (LN510) – A Mid-range Messaging-friendly Touchscreen Phone

The LG Rumor Touch has recently landed on Sprint as the latest member of the Rumor messaging device family. Adding a touchscreen, 3G data, Sprint’s offering and better social networking support, it proves itself to be a worthy successor to the original Rumor and the Rumor 2 in all aspects.

As indicated by the name, the Rumor Touch sports a 3.5-inch 262k-color 400x240-pixel screen using the resistive touch technology. Sliding the phone sideways the display will automatically switch to landscape viewing mode, and you will find a 5-row QWERTY keyboard with dedicated emoticon keys. The device measures 4.2" high by 2.2" wide by 0.6" deep when closed and has a weight of 4.7 ounces.

To give you easy access to various social networking sites, the Rumor Touch is preloaded with stand-alone applications for Facebook, Twitter and MySpace. There is also a Sprint Mobile Email app that handles AOL, Gmail, Hotmail, Yahoo Mail and other personal/work email accounts. Other than these, it comes with instant, text and multimedia messaging, with SMS displayed in threaded style for easy reading. You can either compose a text message on the physical keyboard, or use the handwriting recognition tool or T9 keypad on the touchscreen.

Apparently, the multimedia department has received some notable upgrades as well. Apart from the 2.0-megapixel camera with camcorder, the phone now packs in a set of Sprint 3G services. You can watch full shows, breaking news, live sports and movies with Sprint TV, and download tracks wirelessly from the Sprint Music store. Sprint Navigator is also pre-installed for turn-by-turn GPS navigation.

Furthermore, the Rumor Touch now boasts the enhanced Hello UI, allowing you to manage your contacts in a smarter way. The address book stores up to 600 entries. The phone also offers stereo Bluetooth, an Access NetFront browser, a music player (MP3, AAC, AAC+ and MP4A), a one-touch speakerphone and a 3.5mm headset jack. It has 52MB of internal memory and comes with a microSD card slot with support for up to 32GB of additional memory. It comes in three stylish colors: blue, purple and red.

Designed with text messaging and social networking in mind, the LG Rumor Touch surely won’t disappoint the trendy youth. Users who are keen on keeping in touch with their social circles now have another affordable choice from Sprint.
