T-Mobile G2 – Probably the Best QWERTY Smartphone on T-Mobile

Speedy and elegant, the T-Mobile G2 is the successor to the G1, the very first Android-powered smartphone released two years ago. It is also the first to support its carrier's new HSPA+ network, offering impressive 4G data speeds for Web browsing and a slew of preloaded Google services.

The G2 sports a super-sharp 3.7-inch 800x480-pixel screen integrated with capacitive touch and pinch-to-zoom support. Below the screen there is an optical trackpad for navigation. Sliding the front panel to the right will reveal a four-row QWERTY keyboard with large and spacious keys. If you prefer to type on the screen, you can use the virtual Android or Swype keyboard. Although the phone is quite hefty at 6.5 ounces and 4.7" high by 2.4" wide by 0.6" deep, it does not have the chin-like feature found on the G1, making it easier to slip into your pants pocket.
The G2 operates on the Android 2.2 OS to bring users a pure Google experience. In addition to the standard set of mobile applications like Google Maps, Gmail, Google Talk, Google Search, YouTube and Android Market, you will get extra services such as Google Earth, Google Sky Map, Google Translate and Google Finance. The handset also comes with Voice Actions, a new software that lets you make calls, handle voicemails, browse the Web and do more using your own voice.

The G2 is billed as an all-round messaging device as well. Aside from basic text and multimedia messaging, it provides access to a number of instant messaging accounts. You can also send and receive messages from both personal and corporate email accounts with support for Microsoft Exchange.

On the multimedia side, the music and video players are paired with DoubleTwist, which enables you to sync your phone's media library with your computer. Playback supports a number formats, including MP3, WMA and AAC/AAC+/eAAC+ music files and MPEG4 video files. Moreover, the phone is capable of 720p HD video recording using the built-in 5.0-megapixel camera with autofocus and LED flash.

As for storage capacity, you will find 4GB of internal memory onboard, and you can add more with an additional microSD card as large as 32GB. Other features include Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, GPS with navigation capability, voice dialing, a proximity sensor, an accelerometer and a 3.5mm headset jack.

With a classy design, blazing fast performance and tightly integrated Google support, the T-Mobile G2 is a versatile and feature-packed smartphone that ensures you a powerful Android experience.
