Samsung Reality SCH-u820 – the Real Social Networking Device

Verizon Wireless has recently unveiled the Samsung Reality SCH-u820, a sleek, easy-to-use and feature-packed messaging phone that can keep up with your social life. Thanks to the 3.0-inch WQVGA 240x400 touchscreen and the horizontal slide-out QWERTY keyboard, you can interact with the world easily via instant messaging and social networking.

Like some other Samsung touchscreen devices, the Reality uses the TouchWiz interface to offer users three home screens. You can drag and drop various shortcuts to customize these panels. Apart from the old widgets, the phone now has some extras, such as "Bing search" and "Communities". "Communities" lets you have quick access to Facebook, Flickr, Twitter, MySpace and more popular sites on the full HTML web browser. Snap a 3.2-megapixel photo with the camera (with video capture) and you can upload to these communities.

To make you more socially connected, the Reality offers a comprehensive set of messaging options. You can chat with your buddies instantly via AIM, Windows Live Messenger and Yahoo Messenger. Text, picture and video messaging are displayed in threaded style to give you a conversation-like experience. Voice messaging is also supported. Additionally, the phone is bundled with Verizon’s mobile email, mobile web email and corporate email.

Other than email, Verizon also throws in VZ Navigator to work with the phone’s built-in GPS, offering you audible turn-by-turn directions and information about nearly 14 million points of interest in the U.S. As usual, V Cast Video, where you can view streaming videos, and V Cast Music with Rhapsody, where you can buy songs wirelessly, are onboard as well. The integrated music player supports MP3, AAC, AAC+ and WMA formats. With the music multitasking ability, the phone lets you listen to music while performing other tasks, like browsing the Internet.

Other than the aforementioned, the Reality also comes with stereo Bluetooth, voice commands, a speakerphone, an accelerometer, an Office file viewer and a 3.5mm headset jack. It has a generous phone book that stores up to 1000 entries with multiple contacts. The phone gives you 128MB of internal memory along with a microSD card slot accepting up to 16GB cards. It measures 4.23" high by 2.09" wide by 0.59" deep and weighs 4.59 ounces.

The Samsung Reality SCH-u820 is built for those who do a lot of emailing, messaging and social networking on the go. Available in Piano Black and City Red, it will certainly match your style too.
