Sony Ericsson Xperia X10 – A Beautiful Smartphone with Top-of-the-line Hardware

The Sony Ericsson Xperia X10, the first Android device introduced by the Finland-based phone maker, has finally landed in the U.S. market. Currently available from AT&T, the Xperia X10 is a promising social phone that constantly keeps you busy with tons of social networking and entertainment features.

The Xperia X10 is a slate device boasting a gorgeous 4-inch capacitive touchscreen with 65K colors and 854 x 480 pixels. It comes in at 4.68" high by 2.48" wide by 0.51" deep, and weighs surprisingly light at 4.76 ounces considering its large screen display. Integrated with an accelerometer, the display will automatically change its orientation when the phone is tilted.
Although the X10 is powered by Android OS 1.6 instead of the latest 2.2 version, its new interface, UX platform, combined with Sony Ericsson's own social and multimedia applications, has brought us a unique user experience.

For instance, Timescape turns all your messages, emails, social media updates into a stack of cards that you can flick through with your finger. That way you can have a clear view of your social communications at any place. The phone comes with support for POP3/IMAP accounts, Gmail and Microsoft Exchange, as well as for SMS, MMS and various instant messaging clients.

The Mediascape intelligent media player is another innovative element brought by Sony Ericsson. Since it lets you store all your photos, music tracks and videos online or in the phone, you will be able to get to your media files from everywhere. It plays a number of audio and video formats, including AAC, AAC+, MP3, MPEG-4 and WAV. Besides, the media player is linked to Youtube, which allows you to go from your songs to related Youtube videos in an instant.

As expected, the Xperia X10 offers a suite of Google Mobile applications, covering Google Talk, Google Search, Google Voice Search, Google Maps and more. You also have access to AT&T services such as AT&T Navigator, AT&T Maps, AT&T Mobile Video, AT&T Radio and AT&T Hot Spots. More third-party apps are available for downloads in the Android Market.

Furthermore, the X10 sports an impressive 8.1-megapixel camera/camcorder with flash, autofocus, digital zoom, geotagging and face recognition, among other options. You also get 3G, Wi-Fi, stereo Bluetooth, AGPS, an Android WebKit full HTML browser, a 3.5mm headset jack and a full-duplex speakerphone. There is about 400MB of free internal memory and you can easily expand the space to up to 16GB with a microSD card.

With a state-of-the-art camera, a brilliant display, an elegant design and a solid multimedia feature set, the Sony Ericsson Xperia X10 stands out as an irresistible smartphone especially for those who love taking photos and social networking all the time.
