According to research conducted by the Chartered Institute of Payroll Professionals (CIPP), September is the most popular month of the year for people to head off on vacation.The report revealed that nearly a quarter (23 per cent) of survey respondents indicated that September is their favourite time to take vacations. This was followed by August with 17 per cent and June and July, which both took 13.6 per cent of the vote respectively.
“In some places in Europe, such as Italy, many businesses close down for the month of August so that workers can enjoy some time off. Based on our research, it seems that this year in the UK the most popular time to take annual leave is the month of September,” said Lindsay Melvin, Chief executive of the CIPP. It is also noted in the report that 47 per cent of the respondents were planning beach vacations, while 21 per cent wanted to head off on activity-based holidays.
